Some of the most common chocolate fountain questions that we are asked ....
When can you use a chocolate fountain? Chocolate fountains are great for any social gathering; for example, private birthday parties, anniversary parties, christenings, corporate events (such as opening events, staff conferences, product promotions) and wedding receptions. A chocolate fountain makes a perfect wedding breakfast dessert, wedding cake or finale to an wedding reception evening buffet.
What type of chocolate is used? We only use Callebaut Belgian Couveture chocolate. This is a quality brand of chocolate that is specially formulated to flow easily and coat surfaces. We NEVER add oil to our chocolate.
What is the longest a fondue can operate for? As long as there is chocolate the fountain will run continuously. Our standard operating time is 3 hours because, in our experience, the chocolate fountain is most popular for the first ninety minutes. After this time chocolate dipping slows and your guests go on on to enjoy dancing and having a social drink.
What areas do you cover? We generally keep our services to the North of England. Outside of a 30 mile radius of Leeds we may need to add a small premium to cover travel expenses and time.
Can we hire a chocolate fountain without an operator? No, we prefer to accompany our fountains with an operator. If unattended, things such as blockages can cause the flow of the chocolate to deteriorate, making it less inviting. Since we also then remove and clean the chocolate fountain the whole experience is much easier for the client.
Will the fountain make a mess? Our chocolate fountain operators are trained to be respectful of the venue and are instructed to leave the area exactly as they found it. Any rentals involving our own lighted stands are accompanied by a large ground sheet which protects the venue floor covering.
How does the chocolate fountain work? The base of the fountain is heated. When all of the chocolate is melted a motor turns a large corkscrew lifting the chocolate to the top. When the cap of the fountain is full, the chocolate cascades over the tiers.
Can a fountain be used outside? No. The fountain must be protected from airbourne insects/particles and kept away from any breeze that may distort or cool its flow.
Can you burn yourself on the chocolate? No. The chocolate temperature that is maintained by the fountain cannot cause harm.
What do I need to supply? All we need is a plug socket unless your display does not involve the 'dip buffet' stand, in which case we will discuss table requirements individually.
Does the chocolate contain nuts? The chocolate comes with a warning that it may contain nuts.
Is the chocolate gluten free? The chocolate itself and any fruit dips are gluten free. Dipping items such as profiteroles or wafer biscuits may contaminate the chocolate with gluten, therefore, we advise that any guests with gluten or wheat intolerance are the first to use the fountain.
What forms of payment do you accept? We take a 25% deposit to secure your fountain booking. The balance is payable by cheque 2 weeks before the event or cash on the day.
Do you have public liability insurance, full PAT testing certificates and can you provide proof? We have a comprehensive public liability insurance policy. All of our electrical equipment is fully PAT tested. We can provide evindence to yourself or a venue to confirm both of these.
What food handling certificates do you hold? All of our operators hold a food hygiene and safety certificate. We are also registered with the local health authority so you have piece of mind that high food safety standards are maintained.
